Antonia (Toni) Adriana Dejong Benzon

February 13, 1940 — May 15, 2021

Antonia better known as Toni, and to her close family as Toos, was born in Rotterdam Holland
on February 13, 1940. She passed away at her home on May 15, 2021 surrounded by her
loving family. As a young girl Toni immigrated to the United States with her parents Nicolaas and
Christina Dejong and her sister Geraldine DeJong Jiron. Toni married her husband Donald
Benzon in Salt Lake City on March 8, 1962 and together they raised a beautiful family, the two
were married for 51 years. Toni is survived by her four children; Cathy Benzon, Mark Benzon,
Nick Benzon and Connie Nielson, 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, and her
two sisters Geraldine DeJong Jiron and Christina DeJong Forrester.
Toni was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Throughout
her joyful life she kept her family at the center of her life. Being with her family was always a
priority including birthdays, holidays, picnics, camping events, and supporting her kids and
grandkids. Mom and grandma spent time leading cub scouts, attending sporting events, recitals,
and never missed an opportunity to cheer on or support her loved ones. Toni loved traveling
with her husband and family especially in their motorhome and anywhere that she could enjoy
nature. She enjoyed road trips and long drives, she would never turn down the opportunity of
going on a drive in the mountains.
She spent time working for the United States forest service where she was able to enjoy all of
the natural beauty and mountains that she loved so much. While working for the Forest Service
she found joy in meeting and getting to know people from around the world.
Toni’s home was her pride and joy that provided years of comfort and a place where family
always gathered. She was an amazing gardener and kept a perfect yard where many memories
have been made that several generations have enjoyed. We will miss her hospitality, welcoming
nature, and spending time with her at her home. There wasn’t a cookie that she didn’t love and
sharing a cup of tea with anyone who would drink one with her was a favorite as well, especially
with her sister Deene who was also her best friend.
Toni was a wonderful listener and was a soft place to land for all that loved her. She showed
kindness towards everyone and will be missed dearly by many. Her kids, grandkids, great
grandkids, sisters, nieces/nephew, and friends will miss being her love and being with her. She
is preceded in death by her loving husband Donald Benzon and her parents Nicolaas and
Christina DeJong.
