“Together Again”
Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather Gene Killian passed away on December 28, 2016 in Farr West, Utah.
He was born on July 6, 1931 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Anthon Alvero Killian and Madge La Von Thompson.
Most of his childhood was spent in St. Anthony, Idaho. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and served for two years. After returning home from his military service he met and married his sweetheart Margie Marie Miller on January 7, 1951. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 22, 1956. Together they had 4 children.
Gene retired from a career in the grain exchange. He served in many positions including a member of the board of directors for Idaho Feed and Grain as well as President of the Utah Idaho Grain Exchange from 1984-1985.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and truly enjoyed the companionship of the members of the Westwood Ward.
Gene was an avid lover of the great outdoors. He loved to go camping, boating, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Yuma, Arizona. Golfing, bowling and taking walks with his dog Scruffy were many of his favorite past times.
He also loved spending time along-side his companion Margie during the summer time as campground hosts and during their winters in Yuma, Arizona with friends and family.
Gene and Margie loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed taking time to plan several family reunions and other gatherings.
He is survived by his children: Brad (Kathy) Killian, Robyn (Joe) Layton and Larry (Jeanie) Killian, 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, sisters: Bonnie (Ted) Smith, Linda Johanson, brother; Mike (Patty) Killian and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Margie, parents, son; Richard Killian and brother; Larry Killian.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westwood Ward in the Heritage LDS building, 2100 North 2000 West in Farr West, Utah.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and again on Friday one hour prior to services.
Interment will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilford Cemetery in Wilford, Idaho. The family extends a warm welcome to anyone who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers please send donations to any veterans’ organization of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
