Annabelle Burr

April 16, 1926 — April 22, 2018

AnnaBelle King Camp Burr 1926 – 2018
Ann Burr, 92, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona after a stroke. Born April 16, 1926 to William Dudley King and Grace Florence Klinkner in Mishawaka, Indiana.
She had many happy memories growing up on the family farm. One of her favorites was going with her dad to the general store to get maple sugar candy. She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Ind. as the class of ‘44 valedictorian. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she met and married Cody Camp (later divorced). She was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the gospel. A natural beauty, Ann was chosen by Kennecott (in the late 50’s) to be their “Copper Queen” and rode on a float in the Days of ‘47 parade.
Ann was blessed with many talents, including oil painting, crocheting & knitting. She mastered shorthand, administrative & organizational skills to pursue a career as an administrative assistant at IBM, Goodyear Tire, U.of U. Physics Dept. and SLC School Dist. She married John C. Burr in 1971 and continued to work many long hours to help support the family while raising 3 children. Ann was a meticulous homemaker who took pride in preparing delicious meals and baking a great pie. In her home, “everything had a place and a place for everything”. She always insisted on ironing her clothes and wouldn’t leave the house without her jewelry on and her nails done.
After retirement, John and Ann traveled in their fifth wheel between Star Valley, WY/St. George, UT & AZ where they formed lifelong relationships with many friends. In 1998, they settled in Apache Junction, AZ in a retirement community where her friends meant everything to her, especially Sharon Berg who cared for her like her own mom taking her meals and visiting her. Ann loved flowers (especially roses), and she cherished her garden. Despite some recent health challenges, Ann possessed a keen intellect, a great sense of humor and an amazing memory until the end of her life. She was conversant with current events and read the newspaper every day. She enjoyed playing bridge regularly but, most of all, she loved watching the AZ Diamondbacks play and the free tacos when they won! Independent and a bit strong-willed, she drove her car until last fall. After that, as a reluctant passenger, she would not hesitate to offer copious directions to the driver.
Many thanks to Charlene, Mike, Jennifer, Ashley & Garrett for their endless hours caring for her needs & especially Jenn for sitting with grandma to record her life history.
Ann was preceded in death by John, her parents, brother Donald King, sister Geraldine Frick and her granddaughter Emma Camp. She is survived by son Steve Camp (Carol), daughter Charlene Malaska (Mike), son Brad Camp, grandchildren, Ian Camp, Daniel Camp (Jordan Bush), Jane Camp, Jennifer Malaska, Ashley Moss (Garrett), Dylan Camp, Mason Draper, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by John’s daughters Lisa Olsen and Patricia Robbins, and his grandchildren.
Ann, your passing leaves a tremendous void in our world, but our love for you will forever remain in our hearts.
