Anna Ollerton

February 6, 1934 — March 24, 2015

Born: February 6, 1934 the fourth and youngest child of Alden B. and Gladys Marie Jackson Syme. Mom was born in the hills three miles north of the town of Moroni, UT. She was always proud of her “hillbilly” status. She grew up in Moroni during the Great Depression and World War II. She grew up enjoying singing and dancing. Music played a large role in her life and she passed those traits on to her children.
One day in 1950 she met a boy named Elmo Gene Ollerton, as a result of a blind date. They were married on November 23, 1951. That marriage was later solemnized and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 6, 1962. Gene and Lorene are the parents of four children; Anna Jean (George) Colledge, Ronald Scott (Angelia Robbins), Elaine (Terry) George and David Kay (Sherry Squires). There are 15 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild due in about 3 weeks. Lorene was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most of her callings had to do with teaching children and music.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and taking trips with the family. Mom had a great time going to Disneyland with Scott and Angie and their family.
Lorene died on March 24, 2015 surrounded by most of her family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene; 4 children and their families; sister Theone (Morris Jorgensen, deceased) and brother Boyce Syme (Sally McGlinchy, deceased). Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Berdell Syme (Ruth Collard).
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, March 30, 2015 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT with a viewing to begin at 10:30 am. Interment to follow.
