Anna Catharina Emo Vander Veur

July 7, 1923 — April 7, 2018

Mom/Oma Anna Vander Veur, age 94, returned to her Heavenly Father Saturday, April 7, 2018. Anna was born on July 7, 1923 in Utrecht, Netherlands. She was the second child of six girls and her parents were Martinus Emo and Sietske (Ket) Emo. In her youth, she loved going to the market with her sisters, swimming and helping her father sell and deliver flowers.
She met the love of her life at the age of 17, Hendrik (Henry) Vander Veur. They were married on May 12, 1943. In October 1948 they immigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah, with three small children. They ultimately had eleven children. They came to America to be sealed as an eternal family in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many church callings throughout her life. She loved being the ward organist and was a member of the American Guild of Organists. Anna and Henry returned to their homeland in 1986, serving 18 months as full-time missionaries.
Anna helped support and raise her family by owning her own beauty salon. She loved family and friends and was loved by everyone she met. She will be remembered for her optimistic attitude and loving concern for others. She loved music and played the piano and organ and encouraged all of her children to play all types of musical instruments. In her later life she bought and taught herself to play the harp.
Mom lived independently in her home until the day she left us.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings.
She is survived by her eleven children Frederick, Martin (Kathy), Reinje (Benj) Rains, Henry Jr. (Margia), John (Bonnie), Raymond (Mary), Grant (Linda), Alida (Lyle) Harbertson, Andy (Kellie), Annette (Dave) Cook, and Karen Keele. She is also survived by 52 grandchildren, 126 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
