Ann Goldthorpe

August 17, 1927 — June 29, 2021

Ann Farley Goldthorpe passed away at her home on June 29, 2021. She was born on August 17,1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kenneth George Farley and Jennis Ridges Farley. Ann attended Holladay Elementary, Irving Jr. High, Granite High and the University of Utah where she obtained a B.S. in Home Economics Education. She received the Widtsoe Award as the outstanding Home Economics graduate-most likely to use her degree. Ann taught Home Economics at Bryant Jr. High and Churchill Jr. High. Married to Fred C. Goldthorpe March 31, 1950, in the Salt Lake Temple, she served many years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of her most happy years were as a Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society Counselor, Sunday School Teacher, and participating with MIA Young Women.
Ann served with her husband Fred for 1-1/2 years as the office couple in Czechoslovakia with President and sister Winder when the mission was opened again after 50 years. She found great joy serving her family and those around her. All of the 20 grandchildren have been the recipients of wonderful hand-made quilts, dresses for the girls and baby kits for the great grandchildren. Ann loved to cook and be surrounded by beautiful flowers and to grow vegetables and berries for her family and neighbors.
Ann is survived by her five children: Kent (Rina) Meridian, Idaho, Pauline (Omar) Salt Lake City, Utah, Bruce (Robin) Tempe, Arizona, Clifford (Tammy) Kamas, Utah and Marianne (Jill) Park City, Utah. She is also survived by her sister Jennis Andelin (Bob-deceased) and brother Kenneth Farley (Betty-deceased). She was preceded in death by her son Brent, sister Jane Buckmiller and husband Fred. Ann leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren with another on the way!
Viewing and graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 3 at 10:00 AM-12:00 PM (viewing) with graveside services to follow, at Memorial Mountain View 3115 E. 7800 S. in Cottonwood Heights. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to two of mom’s special charities: houseofheartutah.com or teeitupfoundation.org. Services will also be Live-Streamed via Zoom
