Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Angela Doney Graham Ballingham passed away peacefully and returned home to our Heavenly Father on March 18, 2024 in Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her loving family. Angela had a zest for life and loved each day.
Angela was born Nov 14, 1930 in Franklin Idaho to Alvah Cutler Doney and Virginia Wirthlin Doney. She was the middle of five children. Later, they moved to Preston Idaho where she attended school and helped with chores on the farm. She gained a strong work ethic, and carried these skills throughout her life. After graduating from Preston High, she was later employed with Mountain Bell Telephone Company.
Soon after, Angela met the love of her life. She married her sweetheart George Stevenson Graham in the Salt Lake Temple on May 2, 1952. They enjoyed raising their family together, and creating long lasting memories. They took pride in their home and the life they built together. Angela’s husband, George, died suddenly in a tragic accident on April 16, 1969. As a single mom, Angela continued to raise her 4 children in their Sugar House home.
Angela later met and married Arthur Ballingham in the Ogden Temple on September 21, 1982. They enjoyed working together at her son Craig’s printing business, and serving at the Salt Lake Temple for 8 years. Angela’s second husband Art passed away on August 21, 2003.
Mom was always busy, and had several hobbies. During her single years, she joined a bowling league, and danced with the Special Interest groups. She loved to crochet and make beautiful afghans that she shared with family and friends. As her eyesight began to fail, she would study new patterns and crochet by feel. She loved to cook, and made holidays special with her homemade fudge, popcorn, and fruitcake. She was most passionate about chocolate and always had a box stashed away.
Mom had a beautiful yard surrounded by trees and flowers where she loved to garden. Her yard became a sanctuary for many birds and squirrels that she loved watching from her swing. Her home brought a lifetime of peace, comfort, and joy that was enjoyed by many for over 67 years.
Mom had a great love for all of her pets, but especially Barkley who has been her sweet companion and guardian for the last 17 years. He is as lost and heartbroken as we are.
Angela loved our Father in Heaven and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as primary president and visiting teacher in the Relief Society for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Angela will be greatly missed by her children who all took turns as caregivers during her last months of life. Angela is survived by her children: Craig/Ali Graham, Kelly/Holly Graham, Bryan/Sheri Graham, Jerilyn/Mike Glazier, 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Angela was proceeded in death by her parents Alvah/Virginia Doney. Siblings: LeRoy Doney, Emma Lu Graham, Sara Ann Saunders, and Dee Doney. Husbands: George Stevenson Graham, and Arthur Ballingham. Great grandson: Benny Graham.
As a family we would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at IHC Medical Center in Murray for their professional medical care of our mother during her most recent visits to the hospital.
