My loving mother, Anatalia Mary Jacobsen, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. She was born on Dec. 11, 1927 in Delta, Colorado, to Fulgencio Apodaca Maestas and Maria Romana Dela Luz Duran. She married Ceasar Hernandez, Aug. 17, 1951, later divorced. Married Dale Arno Jacobsen, Sept. 15, 1962.
She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing acapella. She loved music, played concertina, dulcimer, and various other instruments. She was very creative and loved crafts and collected poetry. After graduating from West High School, she went to business school and received a degree to become a switchboard operator, but found that she was too short to reach the switches. She worked in cleaning houses, working for several laundries, helped assemble Lionel toy trains and worked as a book binder for Hiller Book Bindery. She retired from the VA Hospital Laundry Department. Anatalia was a volunteer foster grandparent for 25 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Georgiann Romana Hernandez, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and first and second husbands, brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, 11 a.m. at the Pioneer 26th Ward, 1145 W. 500 S. A viewing will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the same location. Interment will be in the Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Rd.
A special thanks to the staff of Holladay Health Care Center and Harmony Hospice for their loving care of Mom.
