Ana Victoria

May 20, 1928 — September 21, 2019

May 20 1928- September 21 2019
Our dear mother and grandmother, or Abuelita as she was lovingly known to so many, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on September 21, 2019.
Ana Elvira Neira Villalba de Victoria was born in Funza, Cudinamarca, Colombia on May 20, 1928 to Felix Maria Neira del Castillo and Ana Villalba Arenas. Along with her four siblings, she had a very happy and memorable childhood, to which she attributed her longevity, her joy, and her vivacious attitude.
On January 10, 1949, she married Vicente Victoria Gutierrez. Ana Elvira’s family was the single most important thing in her life. She was a devoted mother to her six children and sought to give her family the same happy childhood that she had. She showed her unwavering love for her children by affectionately giving them her time and attention whenever needed and always spoke to them with the sweetest terms of endearment. She gave generously to her children and taught them to always have compassion for others.
Ana Elvira was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings in various auxiliaries and provided an example of faith and perseverance to her friends and family. Ana Elvira moved to the United States in 2003 and proudly became a citizen a few years later.
Always a hard worker, her tenacious, strong-willed spirit enabled her to confront life’s challenges with hope and determination. This contagious attitude also strengthened her family through their trials. She faced life with joy, enthusiasm, and had a remarkable ability to find beauty in any situation. She smiled constantly and made friends wherever she went, from her hometown in Colombia, to her home in South Jordan, to the senior citizen center she frequently attended. Her spunky sense of humor brought cheer to everyone around her and conversations with Ana Elvira were often filled with infectious laughter.
Ana Elvira had many talents and hobbies that she loved to share with others. She could often be found knitting or crocheting an item of clothing for someone in need or making a delicious meal to share with a friend. Many friends said her arepas and changua could heal a broken soul! Her daily siesta and “onces” were an integral part of her routine, which she also attributed to her happiness and longevity. She also loved sewing, quilting, and gardening. She was especially fond of animals and almost always had a dog, cat or bird in her home.
She is survived by her brother Alberto Neira Larrate, six children Charis Marina Victoria Neira (Bill Meyer), Ana Elvira Victoria Neira (Marco Ventura), Norma Lucia Victoria Neira (David Masihdas), Jose Vicente Victoria Neira (Lucy Mendez), Patricia Victoria Neira, and Nancy Victoria Neira, eleven grandchildren Charysse Royals, Ana Ingar Wallace (Rob), Steven Anderson (Robin), Johanna Swanson (Jake), Erin Klebba (Jeremy), Marissa Masihdas, Martha María Barreto (Ramiro), Felipe Victoria, Sergio Victoria (Laura), Ana María Sanchez, Daniel Felipe Victoria and thirteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings Fernando Neira Zamudio, Alvaro Neira Villalba, Luis Alejandro Neira Villabla, and her grandson Luis Fernando Morales Victoria.
There will be a viewing on Saturday September 28 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E 7800 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84121. Internment services will follow at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Holladay Health Care Center, Sandy Health and Rehab, Legacy House, and all of the sweet Symbii Healthcare and Hospice nurses who gave Ana Elvira such loving care over the past few months.
