Alona was born September 20, 1929 as the first child to Bruno and Dora Schreiter in Chemnitz, Saxony. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family December 5, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She attended German School system with a degree in Accounting. Alona married her husband Harold W. Schreiber on July 1, 1950 in Chemnitz.
Escaped to West Germany and came to the United States in March 1953. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Served with her husband as he presided over the Germany Hamburg Mission 1979/1982. She began playing the organ at the young age of 12 and memorized the LDS hymn book and loved it. She was an excellent homemaker and loved the flowers adorning her front yard. Her testimony of the restored gospel was her most precious possession along with her children and grandchildren! Always active in the LDS Church, she cared lovingly for those in need of assistance. She loved the Lord and all her brothers and sisters in the gospel. It was tradition, to always decorate the home to correspond with the season. Christmas especially, she transformed the living room into a winter wonderland.
Survived by her husband and five children, Frank (Jessica), Julie, Michelle (Phillip), David (Allison) and Paul (Allison), Sister Ursula Otto and brother Eberhard. As well as 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded by parents. Interment at the Redwood Memorial Garden.
Funeral services held Friday December 9, 2016, 11:00 am at Eldredge Ward Chapel 3219 South 300 East, South Salt Lake City. Viewing held Thursday from 6 to 8:00 pm at Redwood Memorial Garden 6500 S.
