Alma Jean Hanson

June 19, 1926 — December 19, 2015

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Alma Jean Marlin Hanson-age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 19, 2015.  Jean was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on June 19, 1926 to Herman and Virgie Casey Marlin. She married Harold Warren Hanson (Pete) on May 25, 1946. They moved to Murray, Utah in 1947. They later moved to Riverton in 1969, where they raised seven children.
Jean was well known for her quick wit, feisty personality, and straight-forward attitude. Anytime she was asked how she felt, Jean would quickly respond, “With my fingers!” When asked if she was alright, she would reply, “No, I am half left.”
Jean quickly became the neighborhood mom. Her house was the hang-out for all of her kids and their friends. Her generosity, kindness, and homemade eclairs, made her the most popular mom around! Throughout the Salt Lake valley, on the CB radio, she was known as, “Aunt Jean.” Jean could have a conversation with anyone, and kept close tabs on her kids.
In October of 1974, Jean’s husband, Pete died suddenly of a heart-attack. This left Jean behind to raise a young family of seven. Through many trials and rough roads, and with the help of her children, Jean found a way to continue the legacy that she and Pete had started.
Jean was proceeded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her siblings: Walter and Linda, of Claremore, Oklahoma; children: Dorthy Hanson of Murray, Utah; Sandi Quiroz of South Jordan, Utah;  Paul (Carol) Hanson of Pleasant View, Utah; Larry (Gaylene) Hanson of Monroe, Utah; Allen (Diane) Hanson of Draper, Utah; Wendi (Todd) Lark of Tucson, Arizona, and Michael (Laura) Hanson of South Jordan, Utah.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of 17 grandchildren, and 24 great-grand children.
Mom will be missed dearly. She has influenced many, and was loved by all. We will always cherish the memory of her waving good-bye from her living room window, claiming, “Glad you got to see me!”  We love you!
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary at 11 am with a viewing one hour prior to services.
