Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Allen James Proctor, passed away at home at the age of 91.
Allen was born to John Proctor and Emily Irene Triptow in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest of twelve children and had a twin brother Arthur. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He attended South High School and the University of Utah, receiving a Master of Social Work, becoming an MSW/LCSW. He also served in the Army and was stationed in Whittier, Alaska.
He married LuJean S. Olson in 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple and they created a wonderful family of five boys. Michael Proctor (Eric), David Proctor (Ann-Marie), Scott Proctor, Todd Proctor (Carola), and Matthew Proctor (Melanie). Allen had eight grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
His passion was gardening and he maintained beautiful gardens with spectacular flowers throughout his entire life. He also loved the outdoors and shared that love with his children and grandchildren. From motorcycle rides, ATVs, snowmobiles, boating, and hiking, Allen taught his family to love and cherish their time in nature.
Allen was the embodiment of service. He spent his entire career and personal life serving everyone he met. He worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family Services for 36 years before retiring and continued to work for BYU as a field liaison for the School of Social Work. He also provided family and personal counseling for several more years.
A viewing will be held on Dec. 30 from 7-9 pm at the Cottonwood first ward chapel, 5913 So. Highland Drive, Holladay, UT 84121. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 at the Cottonwood 1st ward chapel at Interment will follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.Service Information
