Alice Tice

March 9, 1921 — May 26, 2014

Alice peacefully passed away May 26, 2014. She was born March 9, 1921, Salt Lake City, Utah, to goodly parents Samuel and Della Tate Campbell. She was one of four sisters and a brother. In 1934 the family moved to San Diego, California. It was while in San Diego that Alice met her husband John Tice, a Marine Gunnery Sergeant, in April 1941. They married May 3, 1943. They were blessed with four children: Margaret “Peggy”, John William (Tamra), Janet and Thomas (Ava). In 1960, John and Alice moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple . Alice’s family was the joy of her life.
Alice was a faithful member of the LDS Church, holding many positions including being an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Alice loved everyone and had many friends. Alice was a long time member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and as a member of the “Hunter Honeys”, a neighborhood club of friends.
Alice is survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, daughter Peggy, sons John, Thomas, sister-in-law Grace (Jack) Campbell, and sister Margaret Heaton. She was preceded in death by her dear husband John (Feb 3, 1993), her daughter Janet (Jan 16, 2004), her parents, brother Jack, sisters Mary Murphy and Ruth Metcalf. Alice was a wonderful wife and mother and had a strong testimony of the Gospel. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held Monday, June 2, 2014, the LDS Chapel at 3450 South 6400 West. Guests may come to the viewing 10:30 to 11:45 am and the funeral will start at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd).
