Alice Bryan Smith

September 2, 1925 — July 21, 2022

Alice B. Smith, 96, surrounded by family and friends, passed away after a short illness and other causes incident to age.  She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Alice was born near Canyon, Texas to Edward and Lorena Bryan.  The eighth of nine children, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Alice met Willis Duane Smith in Denver, Colorado where they were married in July 1946.  Together they raised three children, Alexa S. Baxter (John), Wade A. Smith, and Reid C. Smith (Diane).  She was preceded in death by her husband and both sons.
Alice is survived by her daughter Alexa, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Diane, step grandkids: Jessica (Beau) Andrus, Jenna (Matt) Montoya, Jeannie (Keith) Dick, and several nieces and nephews.
Alice’s faith sustained her throughout her life and she treasured the many friends who graced her path along the way.  The family is deeply grateful to Jeanie and Carlton Stowe for embracing us as well and guiding us through this difficult time.
Alice enjoyed life in her Holladay neighborhood and especially her friendship with Steven Menzel and his loyal dog, Mister.  Steve and Mom shared many good years of conversation, delicious meals, holiday surprises, and lots of laughter.  Steve is now our lifelong friend as well.
Honorary Daughter, Maureen Nenow, has been part of the Smith Family for over 50 years and she and her husband, John, were very dear to Mom.  They brought much joy and tender love into her life.
Special thanks to niece and cousin, Dixie Rice, for her years of correspondence with Mom with her unique, personalized cards and thoughtful notes.  We also thank her for keeping in touch with the rest of us and connected with our kinfolk.
And deepest, loving thanks to Diane Smith, Mom’s daughter-in-law, who unselfishly altered her world to live with and care for Mom in her remaining days.  Diane brought enormous joy and comfort (and her great cat, June) to Mom and is a jewel in our family.
Per Mom’s wish, her remains were cremated.  Memorial services are scheduled at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 on Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 a.m.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a favorite charity, the Utah Food Bank, 3150 South 900 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84119-2471, or a charity of your choice.
