Alfonso (Al) Serrano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on April 5, 2016 due to complications of diabetes.
Al was born April 22, 1959 to Pete and Agneda Serrano in Murray, Utah. As a proud life-long Murray resident, he graduated from Murray High School in 1977 and continued to reside in Murray with his family. He married his soul-mate, Frances Orozco, April 5, 1991.
Al is survived by his wife Frances; children: Tony Serrano (Manuela Corleto), Tamara Serrano, Abel Serrano, John Serrano; grandchildren: Hennessy and Anthony; siblings: Olivia Sterken (Richard), Mary Sanone (Louis), Pete Serrano (Jim Pirlo), Stella Lenzen (Peter), and many nephews, nieces, and
friends. Al is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings (Marlene Vigil, Ralph Serrano, Dion Serrano, and Floraida Holst).
Along with his wife Frances, Al often provided a place of gathering and celebration for family, friends, and neighbors at their Murray home. Al’s unrivaled quick wit and sense of humor brought smiles, laughter, and sometimes tears to those around him. The stories about his adventures camping, fishing, shooting pool, barbecuing, and hitting it big in Las Vegas or Wendover will forever live in his legacy. He was a hard working provider for his family up until his retirement from Wasatch Meats, and equally as dedicated to loving his family and friends throughout his life. Al shared all that he had with those he cared about, and his love for family was ever present in how he lived vivaciously through his children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Al also had a very special relationship with his siblings.
Thank you, Al, for all you have been to all of us.
A special thank you to those who touched Al’s life and helped him through so much, including the professionals at the University of Utah Hospital.
