Alexander Gerardo Rangel

February 16, 1994 — February 8, 2020

Alex was born February 16, 1994 in Fairfax, Virginia to Joseph G. Rangel and Lori L. Kisan. Alex passed away on February 8, 2020 at his home in Lehi, Utah.
He attended Lehi High School as well as Bountiful High School, where he earned his diploma. Alex also attended one year at UVU. His grades were always among the best.
Alex has struggled with addiction for several years.  He couldn’t fight those demons of addiction any longer and succumbed to his addiction way too young.
Alex’s family wants to express that no one should be ashamed or embarrassed or have to hide their addiction  from loved ones. Alex would always reach out to his mom and dad when he knew he was in trouble and into the addiction more than he could handle.
Alex’s world was his music. He spent much of his free time making music with friends. He had the opportunity to perform locally several times. He would always mention to his family how music was his life and he didn’t want to stop pursuing that goal. The night before his passing, he told his mom how bad he wants to keep doing music @thasleez.
Alex also enjoyed movies and spent many nights with his dad’s family and his sister going to movies. They always wanted to be there for opening night. They all loved their time together.
Alex also loved his shoes. We would spend many late nights waiting for the new Jordan’s to be released so he could make sure he got his pair before they sold out. One of Alex’s first words was hshoe, which is how he pronounced shoe. Looking back, we can see this would lead to his real obsession with shoes.
Alex is survived by his parents Lori Kisan (Andy) and Joseph Rangel (Leah); siblings Christeena Lewis (Tearon), Brandi Fallis (Rayford), Alyssa Rangel (Taylor), Jermayah, Evelyne, Bodhi, and Eleanor Rangel, who absolutely adored their big brother Alex; grandfather Robert Andersen; step grandparents Gerald Kisan, Luis and Elizabeth Kemeny; aunt Charyl (Annie) as well as other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. An honorary mention to his cousin Sherie Wade and her loving family, from day one she was there for him, with him, and helped his mom so much with everything to do with Alex. We know he truly loved you like a mom. Please know without you during this tragic time, as his family, we could not have made it without your loving support. He is also survived by special friends Rita Crabb, Telton Jones, and his music partner Isaiah “Izzy” Davis.
We also want to make a very special mention to his sister, Alyssa Rangel. They were very close, and we would always encourage them to stay that way. Just two weeks ago, Alex told his mom he texted Alyssa out of the blue and asked her to meet for lunch. Our hearts are happy they had that time just the two of them, and our hearts are broken for a brother gone too soon.
He is preceded in death by grandmothers Arlene Andersen and Neldene Kisan; Tommy Jones, and grandfathers Ray Druce and Alberto Rangel; and his uncle Ray Druce; as well as great grandparents on both sides.
It’s also with great sadness to mention he was preceded in death by many good friends whom succumbed to their struggles with addiction.
We loved Alex with every fiber of our being, but none of that love could protect him from this world that we live in where drugs are so accessible. Love your addict, know that they are sick, but don’t let their sickness make you ill.
