Alan Dale Farr

Alan passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 6, 2023. He was born in Logan, Utah to Roma and Milan Farr.  Alan was the youngest of 3 siblings. Alan married Sharon Lee Seegmiller on August 9, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they have five children, and 10 grandchildren. One of the most important things in Alan’s life was his family. He enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with his family, including family home evenings, and camping trips.
Alan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a full-time mission in the North Scottish mission.  He also served as a senior missionary with his wife, Sharon, in the Utah Salt Lake, West mission. Throughout his life, he served in numerous callings.  Some of his favorite callings included being a member of the Stake Mission Presidency, playing the organ in both his ward, and in the temple and serving in the Boy Scouts program.
Music was an important part of Alan’s life. He had talents playing piano, organ, and flute. Some of his favorite memories include performing musical numbers with his family for special occasions, family home evenings, and even singing around the campfire.
Alan attended the University of Utah where he received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and an MBA. He worked at the Tooele Army Depot for 23 years, and at Salt Lake Community College for 12 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed working as a crossing guard.
Alan is a Vietnam Veteran who received a purple heart while serving in the United States Army, First Air Cavalry.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lois; and his brother, Ralph.  He is survived by his wife, Sharon; and his children, Doug (Kristi); Kevin; Darren (Crystal); Tiffany (Brandon); Heather; and his grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 4270 South Falcon St, West Valley City, Utah 84120. A viewing will be held at the chapel on Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. Interment will be in Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary and Cemetery, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah, 84070.
