Al Harris Asay

April 11, 1927 — November 18, 2021

Al Harris Asay, age 94, died November 16, 2021, at his home in Riverton Utah. He was born April 11, 1927, in Lovell, Wyoming to ­­­­­Orson Vern and Ella Faye Harris. He married Bonnie Alyce Brinton on January 3, 1947 (later divorced). They had four children, Randall (Lesa), Stephanie Holloway (Terry), Blair (Lynn), and Lynn (Suzanne).   He married Patricia Thornton on May 4, 1963 who later passed away following a courageous battle with cancer.  He gained a daughter Katherine Kershaw Rothe (Alan), two sons Douglas Kershaw (Susie), and Mark Kershaw, and their marriage was blessed with two children, Alan (Julie) and Claudia (Kelly Clayton). He married Kathryn Osborne on August 6, 1981, adding two sons, Joseph Matthew Clark (wife Terri), and Christopher Ryan Clark.
He was a WWII veteran, flying P-51 Mustangs towards the end of the War.  He was the first Civil Service Technician hired by the Utah Air National Guard, serving our country over 40 years and retired as an USAF Colonel. He enjoyed all things mechanical, tinkering on cars and rebuilt the F86 Sabre Jet that is on display at the Hill Airforce Base Aerospace Museum.
He learned the lesson of hard work growing up on the family ranch in Meeteetse, Wyoming. He loved playing Pitch with his brothers and telling stories about his life. He loved his family and his faith. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and and served as a Temple Worker in the Jordan River Temple for 18 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wives Bonnie and Pat, brothers Harris, Chester and sisters Ida, Viola, and Verna Fay, and son Mark Kershaw.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn, 10 children, 40 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and brothers David, Kay and Wayne.
We will all miss you “Flaps”.  Godspeed.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121. Viewing will be between 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM.
