Aiko Nishida Okada

September 10, 1924 — April 12, 2016

Aiko Okada, 91, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2016 in Sacramento, CA where she spent the last few years of her life close to family. She was born on Sept. 10, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Aiko remained in Utah for 88 years of her life.  She married Hito Okada on April 5, 1959. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Hito Okada, her parents Selichi “Jim” and Hide Hara Nishida and siblings, Roy Nishida and Kiyoko Hamamoto (George Hamamoto).  She is survived by her sister-in-law Akiko Nishida; nephew Gary Hamamoto (Michele), niece Liz Muramoto, and her loving great niece’s Jordan Hamamoto and Lauren Muramoto.
Aiko is a graduate of West High School, the class of 1942. She continued her education at the LDS Business College and graduated in 1944.
Aiko retired in 1991 from Mountain Fuel/Questar Corporation as an Executive Secretary, where she worked for 10 years. She was previously employed at Utah Farm Insurance Company for 21 years, Walter Green Actuary, Inland Empire Insurance Company, Pacific Citizen and National JACL Headquarters in Mt. Olympus.
Aiko is known for her kind and loving personality. She loved to bowl and golf.  She was a long time member of the Alpine Country Club as well as a member of Daughters of the Nile.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.  Her smile and warm welcomes will forever be remembered.
Friends are welcome to join us in a celebration of her life. Memorial services will be held on April 22, 2016 at 11 am in the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple, 211 West 100 South, Salt Lake City with a brief viewing at 10:30 am.  She will be laid to rest at Salt Lake City Cemetery directly following the service.
The family appreciates the help of Aiko’s close friend, Nancy Takagi and care from Nori Seiki and staff at American River Care Home.
