Afton Carey died on October 19, 2020 in Celina, Texas. She was born on September 10, 1924 in Sacramento, California to Karl Don Cheel and Leta May Overson. On December 1, 1942 she married Maurice Carey II.
Afton enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, and singing. After raising a family, she went to nursing school.
Surviving Afton were her sons, Maurice Carey III (who subsequently passed on August 23, 2021) and Allen Carey; daughters, Laura Duquenoy, Virginia Howells, and Marlyn Reardon; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Carey II; son, Richard Carey; and great-granddaughter, Michealla Britten Carey.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 4, 2022 at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East. Interment will be in Salt Lake City, Cemetery.Service Information
