Abigail Kate “Abi” Petersen

December 21, 2012 — May 3, 2019

Abigail Kate “Abi” Petersen slipped into eternal perfection, free from the confines of her earthly body, in her sleep early in the morning of May 3, 2019.
Abi was an incredible little girl. She came roaring into this world on December 21, 2012, a bright ray of sunshine on winter solstice. From her first breath she stole the hearts of all who came in contact with her.
Within a few hours Abi started having seizures, and was shortly after diagnosed with a rare gene mutation on her KCNQ2 gene. Neither Abi, nor her parents let that stop Abi from living a full happy life.
Abi was a thrill seeker, and loved to be out in nature. She loved to go to Disney, and the beach. She loved to jump on the trampoline, play at the park, hike, ride motorcycles, swing, and long board while holding her younger siblings in her lap. The crazier the adventure, the bigger her smile. Abi had a twinkle in her eyes, and a smile on her face that immediately brought joy to every situation.
At any group gathering the first person anyone flocked to was Abi. Though she couldn’t speak, we all could see and feel what she was trying to tell us.
We all wish we could have more time with this angel on the earth, but her leading the way to heaven for us is a reminder to scatter sunshine and joy to any and everyone. She left this world a little brighter than it would have been without her, and would be honored for us to follow her example and do the same.
Abi is survived by her loving parents, Angela (Bryson) Western and Jaren (Erin) Petersen; her sisters Olivia Petersen and Ruby Dea, and two younger brothers Max Petersen and Raymond Western; her grandparents Dean & Liz Owens, Craig & Debbie Petersen, Heidi & Lorin Duke, and Stacey & Mark Bryant; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a whole legion of KCNQ2 warriors who all love, and miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd. West Jordan, UT.
A viewing will be held at 1:30pm followed by a graveside service at 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation towards a statue to honor Abi, and her new ability to run and play would be appreciated.
