Abdul (Ab) Rashidi

March 14, 1935 — September 7, 2021

Abdul (Ab) Rashidi was born on March 14, 1935 and passed from this life on September 7, 2021 in the company of family after courageously battling a terminal illness with dignity and strength.
Ab was known and loved for his warm demeanor, big smile, hearty laughter and sense of humor. He touched the lives of many people through his kindness, goodness and generosity.
Professionally, Ab enjoyed an accomplished career as a civil engineer at UDOT for 37 years. He was admired and well respected by his peers and work associates. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed the many friendships he formed in both the Salt Lake City and Monterrey, CA tennis communities.
Above all that he had in life, Ab treasured his family relationships the very most. He was an especially beloved figure to all the children in the family. He was interested in each of their lives and showed love and support to all. He would happily go out of his way to serve any family member. He was a great example of selfless service. Some of his last expressions in life were those of love, faith, praise and encouragement to the young people in his family. In his words, “Though we may be far apart, that family love is always there.”
Ab is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Mahera Mari Harouny, his devoted daughter Neela Harouny Beddoe, son-in-law Marshall Beddoe, and two very loved granddaughters, Violet and Iris Beddoe. Other surviving family members include his in-law siblings, Jake & Carrie Harouny, Mahjora & Khalil Rasul, Shahla & Michael Lucarelli, Nabila & Ali Majdi, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Ab was preceded in death by his dear son, B.J. Rashidi.
