Abbie Leigh Brown

January 31, 1979 — June 27, 2021

Abbie was born January 31, 1979 and died June 27, 2021.

Abbie loved plants and surrounded herself with greenery.  She would run her fingers through their leaves while she talked with them and dote on them every chance she had.  Abbie scheduled one day a week to tend plants.  She would trim and fertilize and repot, simply to spend time with the plants.   Abbie would regale anyone around with stories of her childhood, working with her father in the garden.  Kelly taught Abbie the joy of gardening and how hard work paid off.  Abbie would save all of her food scraps for her compost pile, working not for this year’s crop; but for next year.  She would turn the compost regularly and found it amazing how the pile would devour the scraps.
Abbie did not know how to not go full speed ahead and she was never afraid to take on any task.  If she did not know what to do, she would search the web and watch videos, call friends for advice – whatever it took to be ready, then she would dive in with both feet.  She enjoyed working on cars and was never afraid to get dirty or break a nail – another set of skills she learned from her father.  Abbie loved reaching a goal and she was extremely driven.
Abbie was a very thrifty person.  She saw value in things when others would be ready to toss them, she knew she could use a part on some other project or to fix something in the future.  So, she tended to collect things and knew just where you could find a certain piece – though it may take a day or two for her to locate just what she was thinking of.
Abbie had a wonderful smile, she was upbeat and vivacious, ready to talk with anyone she met.  She loved to laugh and she especially loved to make others laugh.  Abbie was a delight to be with in a crowded room, she could bring a smile out of anyone and had an amazing ability to make each person feel special, like they were the center of attention.  She was especially fond of telling dirty jokes to the older women in her church – she loved to hear them giggle and laugh.
Abbie leaves behind friends, family, loved ones, and her most treasure in life her son Will.
Abbie was a Deacon at the Community of Grace Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Community of Grace at  cogpc.org
