Aaron K. Crosman
October 07, 1921 to May 27, 2016

Aaron was born on a farm located just outside of Ogden, Iowa, to Trelley Aaron Crosman and Helen Jane Williams.  He was the oldest of four children, and attended school in a one room school house.  He would ride a bike from the family farm, located about 5 miles from town on Monday and stay in town with his Aunt and Uncle during the week and then return to the farm, after school on Friday.  He was a farmer, helping his father and brothers work 160 acres, raising corn, soybeans, and highline chickens. They endured a tornado that turned the house on its foundation. At the time his parents were not home and he made sure that his siblings were safe in the cellar of the house.
He joined the Navy, where he attended the Navy V-5, Navel Aviation Preparatory Program. During World War II the Navy did not accept his college credits so he changed over to the Marines, where he worked on the gyros of tanks. He went to Jacques Farm Camp, which was part of Camp Elliott in southern California.  While in service he went to Okinawa, Japan and Peking, China.
He returned to the states and started driving truck for Ruan Transport, hauling gasoline. He said that he had the best truck in the fleet.  He wanted to buy the truck, but Ruan sold all the trucks the night before they went to purchase the truck.
He met Betty Long, the love of his life, in Boone, Iowa while working at the carnival in 1950. They dated for 2 years before getting married in 1952. He had moved to Cozad, Nebraska, and started working at a gas station.  They decided to move to California, when they stopped in Salt Lake City, to visit Betty’s sister and brother-in-law, who convinced them to stay in Utah. They bought an ½ acre lot in Murray, where they built their 1st home. Aaron was working for Petty Ford at that time. In 1953, their first son Aaron F. was born. They returned to Cozad, Nebraska to be nearer their families where they had their second son John.  The next year, they returned to Murray where their third son Jim was born, and returned again to Cozad the following year where their daughter Peggy was born.  Three weeks after their daughter was born, they returned to Murray where they lived until they moved to Arizona for about a year while working for U-Haul.  They decided not to stay in Arizona and moved for the last time back to Murray because they owned the home.  He retired from Murray City Power, after working for them for 13 years.
He and Betty were involved in Cub Scouts, conducting the Jordan Scout roundtable for 3 years. He was also involved in the building of Grant Park baseball diamond in Murray, where he was the Coach for the Colts Little League team.  He also coached the Don’s basketball team, which took the state title.
He was a member of the Mason’s for 73 years, approximately 50 of them with the Canyon Lodge #13, of Midvale, Utah. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a Shriner.  He was also a member of the VFW Honor Guard, for District 2. He joined the VFW in 1966, serving for approximately 50 years, eventually becoming a life member.  He held various positions while in the VFW, though his favorite was the Chaplin for the State of Utah.
At the time of his passing, he was 94. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty, four children, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, who love him and will miss him very much.
